IMakeApps
Film Series
Role: Producer
⇩
Android’s IMakeApps is a film series showcasing the breadth and diversity of Android app makers, fore-fronting the potential for anyone to create their own app as well as highlighting the unique apps from the individuals in the series.
I produced 5 films in this series.
Filming in South Korea, Argentina, USA & Sweden.
Daniel Lee - EMPO
Filmed in Seoul & Gangneung, South Korea
Jaehyung Daniel Lee lives in Seoul but his escape from the rush and hum of the city is to scuba dive around the Korean coast. Not usually a hotspot for Scuba divers he finds a meditative peace in the dark and mysterious waters.
The pollution in the waters has encouraged him to think about wastage within his app…
Mateo Salvatto - ¡Háblalo!
Filmed in Buenos Aires & Magdalena, Argentina
Mateo Salvatto found success at a young age when he won a national robotics competition. He was propelled to the spotlight, being interviewed on national television. He’s used this found fame as a platform to travel around the country and help encourage young people to engage in technology, engineering and robotics as he did.
His app takes helping people further…

My Role & challenges
Producing these films involved working with researchers to determine the best contributor stories for the second wave of films produced. Interviewing suitable contributors to determine their ability on camera as well as the nuance and appeal of their unique story.
From here, my role involved collaborating with the series director to write the scripts, determine locations & key creative development decisions.
Local fixers were key for certain locations. I sourced reliable and efficient teams in all locations and developed a working schedule with them and the talent. A key focus and challenge for these films was to elevate the story by pushing the visual creative - looking for incredible and unique locations that would pop on screen - we pushed to source locations such as monument valley, a local high school in rural Argentina, a scuba centre in South Korea & a Neon light workshop.
Where necessary I co-ordinated the additional communication within pre-production, such as scuba team, Middle school,
On the ground I led the interviews and acted as assistant director. Then oversaw the edit and post production alongside the director securing post houses of choice.
